About the project
A historic public space worth restoring responsibly.
Alberton Dam has deep community memory. The project aims to support a safe, clean and well-maintained public space while respecting the City of Ekurhuleni's responsibility and environmental guidance.
Community significance
Alberton Dam has been part of the Verwoerd Park and greater Alberton community for many years. It was once a place where families visited, schools held cross-country activities, residents could fish, children played, and the braai and lapa facilities were used by the community.
Responsible support
The intention is not to replace the City of Ekurhuleni's responsibility, but to support and strengthen community involvement, sponsorship, awareness and accountability around the restoration of this historic public space.
