Heritage feature
Community Memory Lock Feature
A small controlled community memory feature may become part of the heritage and revival story, only if approved by the City of Ekurhuleni.
As part of the proposed heritage and community revival aspect of the Alberton Dam Restoration Project, Pompidelik would like to request approval from the City of Ekurhuleni to create a small, controlled community memory feature using locks attached to a designated section of the fencing.
The idea is for residents and visitors to attach a lock with their name, family name or short message as a symbol of their visit, support and connection to Alberton Dam.
- Encourage positive community engagement
- Create a visual symbol of support for the restoration project
- Give families and visitors a way to feel connected to the dam
- Celebrate community memories linked to Alberton Dam
- Promote responsible visits to the area
- Support the heritage and revival aspect of the project
This feature will only be implemented if approved by the City of Ekurhuleni. It must not damage public property, create a safety risk, interfere with fencing, gates or access control, or create maintenance issues.
Approval-led progress
Each phase depends on the right guidance, permissions and safety instructions before volunteers, sponsors or contractors act.
